We get a lot of letters from the military. We send them what we can: magazines, t-shirts, the odd piece of gear that we can scrounge up. But we wish it could be more. Yesterday, Pioneer Electronics awarded $10,000 to one of its dealers, Drive-In Autosound, to give to a charity of their choice: in this case military families.
Drive-In Autosound, based in Colorado, won the $10,000 based on its level of community service. Ed Sachs, president of Pioneer's Mobile Business Group, says: "Drive-In Autosound has supported our troops in a number of ways, including accommodation rates and financing for the local military community, co-hosting football parties with radio station Kilo 94.3 FM at the community event center on Fort Carson military base and active participation in the Military Connection, which welcomes soldiers home from deployment."
The shop will donate the money to the Fort Carson Officer's Spouses Club Santa's Workshop. A mouthful of an acronym, the FCOSC gives gifts to military children who might not be able to celebrate the holidays otherwise. Kudos to Pioneer and Drive-In Autosound!
