Making tires and helping the earth aren’t activities that naturally go hand in hand, but Yokohama is making an effort with their “Forever Forest” Project. The rubber company plans to plant half a million trees to create nearly 25 acres of new forest.
Thirty-thousand trees will hunker down first at the Hiratsuka factory, followed by more plants at six Japanese facilities and 11 more overseas. In the U.S., their Salem, VA, facility will expand by almost an acre. The whole plan is to absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and contribute to the local community. Sounds good to me.
