MTX Audio seems to be throwing sponsorship money everywhere. I’m not talking about getting you free gear for your project vehicle, but its heavy involvement in a variety of sports. One of their sponsor recipients, Tony Pedregon and his Funny Car race team, has gotten some press recently after winning the NHRA championship.
The guys at MTX said that “with the new format implemented by the NHRA, the ‘Countdown to the Championship’ turned out to be more exciting than originally planned since Pedregon didn’t clinch the championship until the semi-final round of the NHRA Finals. His year long consistency paid off by winning four times in 2007, which ended up being enough to take home the title by 19 points over second place.
“Tony Pedregon has become a personal friend and we are happy for Tony and his team and are proud to be associated with them,” stated John Ivey, Senior VP of MTX Audio’s Consumer Products Division. “Tony and drag racing fans in general, are passionate and loyal people. With Tony’s passion for performance, it was a natural fit for MTX because we are truly passionate about our ‘sport’ which is making high performance audio products that beat our competition. That’s how the relationship started and we’ve become friends ever since.”
