IASCA Finals recently took place at NOPI Nationals. We're still getting our coverage together (check out the February issue for all the pics), but here are some tidbits of what our friends at MTX and Hybrid Audio Technologies were up to.
On the main showgrounds, MTX brought the thunder with a cavalcade of demo vehicles, including their Cadillac Escalade EXT (with its two 22" JackHammer subs). Dealer Audio Designs of Atlanta brought out a sick Range Rover and Carlos Molina's 2007 BMW 335i was in the Toyo tires booth with a trunk full of MTX.
At the IASCA Finals itself, Hybrid Audio-equipped cars won five of the nine possible World Championships, more than all the other front stage speaker manufacturers combined. Scott Buwalda, veteran competitor and owner of Hybrid Audio, let us know that the last time this happened was in 1989, when MB Quart made its presence known in the USA.
Congratulations go out to Andy Jones, who had the highest score in the Street category. His 2007 Nissan Altima uses the Legatia L641-3. John Marsh, who had the highest score in the Ultimate category has a 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse with the Legatia L631-3 component system. Rick Sellers took first place in Amateur Ultimate using a Legatia L631-3 component system in his Dodge Dually. Finally, Dave Brooks and his Harley Davidson Ford F250 won his class in Rookie with a Legatia L831-3 component system up front. He also won the competition to decide who has the best-sounding car in IASCA from the driver's seat, also known as the "Sound Quality Championship," or SQC.
