I wanted to let you know that Scott Owens of the Edge Audio team hit the trifecta in sound pressure level competitions at the USACI World Finals in Kansas City, Missouri this past weekend by winning and establishing a new
2006 world record using Pioneer subwoofers and amplifiers. Scott posted the highest SPL in history with an incredible 181.4 decibels in the Super Modified 5001-up class shattering his own world record last year of 180.5 decibels.
At the same time and location, the first dB Drag event for the 2007 season was being held where both Owens and Kyle Witherspoon posted new world
records. Owens in the Extreme 5+ category hit 179.6 dB while Witherspoon
established a 176.6 dB in the Extreme 2.
It just goes to show you that the Pioneer gear keeps holding up to the brutal environment at a competition. Two years in a row, Owens broke the 180 decibels barrier, which is unthinkable.
Owens¹ vehicle, a 2002 Ford F-250, was recently reconstructed in hopes of posting another world record for 2006. The truck holds 13 Pioneer Premier TS-W5102SPL subwoofers powered by 52 PRS-D5000SPL amplifiers to generate more than 157,000 watts of power.
Witherspoon, who competes with a 2004 Scion xB, uses two Pioneer Premier TS-W8102SPL 15-inch subwoofers powered by eight PRS-D5000SPL amplifiers producing more than 24,000 watts of power.
